Amazon Seller Reinstatement Support (hereafter "we") is not an official Amazon contact channel and has no ownership or partnership relationship with Amazon. This article is for sellers on Amazon who are not sure what to show on their seller information page, who are hesitant about showing their home address, or who have received a notification about the disclosure.
To give the answer first: Professional sellers, corporate sellers and Individual sellers who list continuously and repeatedly show their business name, a contact phone number, address, the name of the person responsible for operations, store name and any required license numbers on their Amazon seller information page. Official Help says the address must be where you actually carry out your business, that PO boxes and similar addresses cannot be used, and that this applies even if you run your business from home. If the information is not shown or is false, Amazon may take action such as temporarily suspending listings or permanently revoking selling privileges. Any action is decided by Amazon.
This article is based on the Seller Central Help pages "Disclosures under the Specified Commercial Transactions Act and other laws", "Seller prohibited activities and actions, and compliance requirements", "Compliance with the Installment Sales Act and Other Laws and Regulations" and "Terms on obligations under the Home Appliance Recycling Act", checked on 19 October 2026. It is not an explanation of the law itself, but a summary of what Amazon's Help says. Screen names and requirements can change, so please also check the latest Help.
What we handle is preparing and revising submission drafts. You log in to your account and handle appeals and submissions to Amazon yourself.
Sellers who must show the disclosure: Professional, corporate, and Individual sellers who list continuously
The Help page "Disclosures under the Specified Commercial Transactions Act and other laws" explains that businesses selling products online are required by laws such as the Specified Commercial Transactions Act (特定商取引法) to disclose set information about the seller, the products and the terms of the transaction. On that basis, Amazon asks the following sellers to show a disclosure.
| Seller | Disclosure Amazon requires (from Help) |
|---|---|
| Professional sellers | The items required by the Specified Commercial Transactions Act |
| Corporate sellers | The items required by the Specified Commercial Transactions Act |
| Individual sellers who list continuously and repeatedly | The items required by the Specified Commercial Transactions Act |
| Sellers listing products that legally require a license, registration or notification | License numbers, registration numbers, notification numbers and similar |
Help asks that the information shown always be current, and updated as needed. The Help page "Seller prohibited activities and actions, and compliance requirements" also says that sellers are required to show this kind of information so that buyers can purchase with confidence.
Individual sellers who do not list continuously and repeatedly can choose "No"
Individual sellers who do not list continuously and repeatedly can set their page to show only the store name. Open the seller information page from your seller profile and choose "No" for "I am a seller as defined by the Specified Commercial Transactions Act" (私は、特定商取引法で定める販売業者に該当します). However, Help says that even if you choose "No", if Amazon determines that you are covered, you may be asked to choose "Yes" and show the disclosure.
The six items to show: business name, phone number, address, person responsible, store name and licenses
Help lists the following six items to show on the seller information page.

| Item | Help's requirement |
|---|---|
| Business name | For a corporation, the name in the commercial register; for an individual, the name in the family register |
| Contact phone number | The seller's own phone number that is actually used for handling enquiries from consumers and similar purposes |
| Address | The address where business is actually carried out, shown accurately down to the building name and room number. PO boxes and similar are not allowed |
| Name of the person responsible for operations | The name in the family register of the person responsible for the selling business. For a corporation, this may be someone without authority to represent the corporation |
| Store name | The seller's store name on Amazon |
| License information | The type and number of any license, registration or notification that must be disclosed by law |
How home addresses and PO boxes are treated
Help says that Individual sellers also need to show the location of their place of business, and that this applies even if the place where they carry out business is their home. PO boxes and similar cannot be used as the address. For an apartment or similar building, show the building name and room number without leaving them out. As Help states, show "the address where business is actually carried out". The disclosure obligation itself can also be checked in the Consumer Affairs Agency materials listed as references in Help (such as its Q&A on mail-order advertising).
Types of license numbers
Help lists the following five license types that can be selected in "Japan License Information" (日本のライセンス情報) in your seller information.
- Secondhand dealer license number
- Pharmaceutical sales license number
- Mail-order liquor retail license number
- Liquor retail license number
- Advanced controlled medical device sales license number
Where to set it in Seller Central: start from "Account Info"
For every item, open "Account Info" (出品用アカウント情報) from the gear icon (Settings) at the top right, go to the seller information page, and make the changes there. Help advises checking afterwards that the information appears correctly on your seller information page on the Amazon site.
| Item | Where to go on the seller information page (from Help) |
|---|---|
| Business name | "Legal Name" (正式名称/販売業者名) → edit on the legal name / business name page, then "Update" |
| Contact phone number | "Display Name" (表示名) → update "Phone" on the customer service details page |
| Address | "Business Address and Phone Number" (会社住所と電話番号) → "Add new address" |
| Name of the person responsible for operations | "Display Name" → update the name of the person responsible on the customer service details page |
| Store name | "Display Name" → update the store name on the store details page |
| License information | "Japan License Information" → choose the type, change the license ID, or delete it. To add one, use "Add license" |
After making changes, confirm them with "Submit" or "Save", or "Update" for the business name.
How the returns policy is shown
According to Help, sellers follow the returns policy set by Amazon, except where Amazon has decided otherwise. Amazon's returns policy is shown on the seller information page. If you have been allowed your own returns policy, open "Returns and Refunds" from "Info & Policies" in Settings and describe in detail the product condition, shipping fees, returns of defective products and so on.
When selling products covered by the Home Appliance Recycling Act
The Help page "Terms on obligations under the Home Appliance Recycling Act" asks Professional sellers and corporate sellers listing covered appliances, and Individual sellers who repeatedly list covered appliances, to include the collection and transport fee on their "Disclosure under the Specified Commercial Transactions Act" (特定商取引法に基づく表記) page. Go to your seller information and add the collection and transport fee.
Action taken if the disclosure is missing or false: from temporary suspension of listings to permanent revocation of selling privileges
Help says that if the required information is not shown, or if false information is shown, Amazon may take action it considers appropriate, including temporarily stopping listings or permanently revoking selling privileges. The Help page "Compliance with the Installment Sales Act and Other Laws and Regulations" also says that sellers must comply with laws including the Specified Commercial Transactions Act, and that where there is a violation or a risk of one, Amazon may ask for an investigation or corrective action.

If you receive a notification about the disclosure, or your listings are stopped, reviewing the following points makes things easier to sort out.
- Does the business name match the name in the commercial register or the family register?
- Is the phone number your own number that you actually use for handling enquiries and similar purposes?
- Is the address where you actually carry out business, including the building name and room number?
- Is the name of the person responsible the name in the family register?
- Are the license numbers needed for your products entered under the correct type?
- After making corrections, did you check the disclosure on your seller information page on the Amazon site?
The appeal process for working toward lifting a listing suspension is covered in the article on listing suspensions, and preparing for an Installment Sales Act review is covered in the article on the Installment Sales Act review.
What we can do about the Specified Commercial Transactions Act disclosure
Entering or changing your seller information and submitting appeals are procedures you carry out yourself from Seller Central. We do not log in to your account or send anything on your behalf.
What we help with is reviewing the notification you received and copies of your seller information page to sort out which items to correct and how, and preparing and revising the draft of the explanation for an appeal if your listings or account have been stopped.
Whether the action is lifted and sales resume is decided by Amazon, and we cannot promise an outcome. For cases we consider difficult, we tell you so before you engage us, to the extent known at that point.
Our fee is the same for every engagement: an initial fee of 80,000 yen plus a success fee of 80,000 yen (both including tax), paid by bank transfer. The initial fee is payable regardless of the outcome; the success fee is charged when the purpose of the engagement, such as reinstatement of the account, is achieved. If it is not achieved, no success fee is charged. Consultations are free, as often as you need.
Frequently asked questions
Q. Do I need the disclosure as an individual on the Individual selling plan?
A. Help asks for the disclosure from Professional sellers, corporate sellers, and Individual sellers who list continuously and repeatedly. Even on the Individual selling plan, an individual who lists continuously and repeatedly is covered. An individual who does not list continuously and repeatedly can choose "No" and show only the store name, but may be asked to show the disclosure if Amazon determines that they are covered.
Q. I don't want to show my home address. Can I use a PO box?
A. Help says that PO boxes and similar are not allowed, and that this applies even if the place where you carry out business is your home. Show the address where you actually carry out business, accurately down to the building name and room number.
Q. Does the person responsible for operations have to be the company's representative?
A. Help says that the name of the person responsible for operations is the name in the family register of the person responsible for the selling business, and that for a corporation it may be someone without authority to represent the corporation.
Q. If I move or change my phone number, what do I update?
A. For the address, go to "Business Address and Phone Number" and use "Add new address"; for the phone number, go to "Display Name" and update it on the customer service details page. Help asks that the information shown always be kept current. Points to check at the same time when you change your address are also covered in the article on seller account verification emails.
Q. Where do I enter my secondhand dealer license number?
A. In "Japan License Information" in your seller information, choose "Secondhand dealer license number" as the license type, enter the number and submit it. If you have not registered one yet, enter it from "Add license".
